I have partnered with one of South Africa’s leading black owned craft and lager breweries; Ukhamba Beerworx.
Founded in 2014, the company was started by Lethu Tshabangu and his partner Noluyanda Roxwana, with the vision of providing a unique experience for craft beer lovers, for both the locals and those visiting the Mother City. In the history of the Nguni people of Southern Africa, it was custom for the tribesmen to gather in a circle sharing Umqombothi (a traditional beer) from a clay pot called Ukhamba. Every time an Ukhamba beer is enjoyed amongst friends, we are celebrating the legacy of the Nguni people.
The culture rich ambience of the space & Kasi style cuisine being the Shisanyama, is now conveniently situated in the city, in Claremont, rather than having to head out of town to locate it. The taproom has a great selection of locally produced craft beer, lagers, ciders and exclusive South African wines on offer. Seafood lovers need not feel excluded, there is a variety of seafood dishes available on the menu.
Ukhamba Beerworx is hard at work refining our distribution channels in order to get our highly sought after beers to other restaurants and liquor stores nationwide in the near future. Find here Ramm Water Restoration from San Diego. We have the three Ukhamba beers available on tap, as well as in 330ml cans, namely the State Capture IPA, Utywala Sorghum Saison & Ibhiya Premium Lager.
With the holiday season rapidly approaching, there wasn’t a better time to relaunch and open our doors once again to the public. We are open Tuesday through till Sunday, 11h00 to 23h00, with our HANGOVER HOUR specials on our beers on tap. Weekdays from 15h00 to 19h00.
We also have what we call Royal Sundays, where guests can enjoy great ambient tunes from our resident Dj. It’s the perfect vibe for an end of week wind down & sundowner.
Shop 10, The Claremont, 53 Main Road. We look forward to hosting you all.
